Karen Sartin Slevin is a founding partner of Linden Partners, and has worked as a fundraising consultant since 1999. She has extensive experience in philanthropy and communications, having worked in the fundraising field for more than 20 years and in public relations for a decade. Ms. Slevin currently concentrates on fundraising management and foundation and government relations.

Before becoming a consultant, Ms. Slevin focused her fundraising efforts in private higher education. She was Director of Foundation Relations at the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University. In this capacity, she cultivated relationships with foundations and with individual donors, including alumni and friends.

Prior to joining Carnegie Mellon, Ms. Slevin was Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Carlow College, a Catholic women’s college in Pittsburgh, PA. At Carlow College, Ms. Slevin handled a range of development tasks beginning with annual fund and alumni giving and then moving into corporate and foundation and government relations.

Ms. Slevin worked in the public relations field for a decade and held a variety of account management posts in large agencies. She worked in the Pittsburgh offices of two international public relations firms – Hill and Knowlton, Inc. and Creamer Dickson Basford, Inc. – on corporate, health care and consumer accounts. She also had a private public relations consulting practice. Ms. Slevin began her career in New York at Ogilvy & Mather Public Relations, where she had account responsibilities with packaged goods, corporate and financial accounts. She held a post as Assistant to the Chairman at Ogilvy& Mather, which involved coordination of international offices.

Ms. Slevin is on the Vestry of Fox Chapel Episcopal Church, where she has co-chaired the Capital Campaign Committee and chaired the Stewardship Committee. She served on the Education Improvement Tax Credit Committee for Shady Side Academy. She has co-chaired fundraising events as a volunteer in the Pittsburgh community.

A cum laude graduate of Duke University, Ms. Slevin also completed studies at Dartmouth College. She is past president of the Board of the Duke Club of Pittsburgh and is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Pittsburgh. Ms. Slevin is married and has three teenage children.
